Yue Yuan: La soupe de Marcel

Part of A Friendly Exchange, a project by ANGL collective
A dinner event with Yue Yuan.
For each edition of ‘A Friendly Exchange’, ANGL collective invites an artist to respond to thematic questions or prompts in a medium of their choice. The resulting dialogue is published in a format specific to the project and with the DIY spirit of a zine.
The fifth edition of ‘A Friendly Exchange’ took place as a dinner event in Brussels by Yue Yuan, who was inspired by the ingredients depicted in ‘La Soupe de Daguerre’ (1975), a photographic collage by Marcel Broodthaers. This exchange happened in three parts:

1. Sourcing the ingredients in local food market
2. Devising the recipe and cooking the soup
3. Sharing the outcome with a group of friends

The artist produced a set of analogue pictures, disseminating the event through his own lens and returning the soup to its photographic form.
